Sign up for one of the ½ hour audition slots on the sign-up sheet outside the auditorium.
Prepare the monologue and/or dialogue, required for the role you for which you wish to audition. You should try to memorize the audition piece which you may pick up from Ms. Kreicar in the Drama Room. (They are not very long).
For a musical, plan to attend at least one workshop to learn the music for auditions. If you cannot do this for some reason, look on the website and find the music and prepare on your own. Only as a last resort, prepare a song from a Broadway show that really shows off your voice and/or acting talent. One verse and one chorus only. If you do this, you must bring your music on a CD, be able to play it on windows media center from your phone or on a USB. Music must be accompaniment only—NO VOICES. You may not use you tube. You will still be asked to sing music from the show.
Show up on time and prepared for your audition!!
What’s going to happen at auditions?
On arrival for your audition (fifteen minutes before the time for which you signed up), sign in with the stage manager and he/she will give you an audition form to fill out. Fill it out completely—especially the sections concerning your schedule and any possible conflicts.
When the director and judges are ready for your group, the stage manager will call you into the auditorium.
You will perform in random order—don’t be nervous or scared—we want you to do a great job—we are on your side.
You will perform your spoken part, your song, and then after everyone in your group has auditioned, all of you may be asked to work on some simple dance steps.
Call backs will be posted outside the auditorium the day after auditions are complete. Check the list to see if we need to see you again. (Not being on the call back list does NOT mean you haven’t been cast.)
If your name is on the call back list, you must be at call backs to be considered for a role.
Call backs will consist of reading from the script, some singing, and anything else we need to see to make our decision.
The cast list will be posted after the end of call backs.
If your name is on the cast list and you accept the part, initial next to your name and show up for the first rehearsal!
